The problem

There is a gap between advice and hiring

Consulting hands back a recommendation. A permanent executive is a long commitment and a salary. Neither fits a business that needs the work done now, or that needs it done for six months rather than forever.

The same gap sits one level down. A function needs to be built or run properly, but standing it up in house means recruitment, systems, management and fixed cost the volume may not justify. Outsourcing it wholesale usually means losing visibility over how it is done, and inheriting a service level instead of a standard.

Existing teams hit it too. Capacity runs short at exactly the point the work matters most, and the choice becomes hiring permanently for a temporary peak or pushing a team past what it can hold.

Bligh St. Advisory covers the range. Leadership where the need is capacity and judgement at the top, a function where the need is something that runs and can be evidenced, and additional capability where the need is a team that gets bigger without getting worse.

In detail

Capability on the terms the business needs

From a seat at the top table for two days a week, through to a whole function delivered and evidenced.

Fractional COO

Own the operating rhythm, the process agenda and the operational decisions leadership does not have capacity to carry. A defined commitment, usually set days per week or per month, with the scope of the role agreed up front.

Program leadership

Lead a defined body of work end to end. Remediation, integration, systems implementation or operational change, carrying accountability for the outcome and for the people delivering it.

Secondment and interim cover

Embedded into a named role for a defined period, working inside the business under its own governance. Covers a vacancy, a leave period or a transition, and keeps the function moving through the gap.

Managed services

A function designed, stood up and operated on the business’s behalf. Process, roles, systems, controls and reporting built to run from day one, then delivered against agreed standards with the quality assurance that evidences them.

Augmented delivery models

Extend an existing team instead of replacing it. Blended permanent, contract, offshore and partner capability sized against real demand, with the training, controls and oversight that let a distributed model hold one standard.

Delivery

How it works

Leadership arrangements run on a defined commitment, most commonly set days per week or per month, with the role agreed up front and reviewed as priorities shift. Fixed term or open ended with a notice period, whichever suits the business.

Managed and augmented arrangements are scoped around the work itself: what has to be delivered, to what standard and how performance will be evidenced. The delivery model follows from that.

Where the goal is to build capability the business will carry itself, the handover is planned into the arrangement from the start, not negotiated at the end.

In every case the arrangement is agreed in writing before it starts, including scope, standards, reporting and how it ends.
